Come dance the night away and listen to the fabulous vintage sounds of swing at Herne Bay Jazz, Friday 16th August 2024. You can join us on the dance floor or sit back and relax. Let’s start our Jazz Festival with a spring in our step!

The legendary Ray Gelato and his band have had an illustrious and very successful career, including a long-established residency at London’s world-famous Ronnie Scott’s, where the band appears every Christmas. With a Time Out Critic’s Choice Award-winning residency at Ronnie Scott’s, jive and swing band Kai’s Kats love nothing better than a toe-tapping tune; just ask the crowds at the 100 Club, Twinwood Festival or Retrofestival. Kai’s Kats are fronted by singer Kai Hoffman and arranger/pianist Simon Whiteside. Originally from the USA, Kai has performed at the Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall, the London Jazz Festival, Southbank Centre and Ronnie Scott’s Club. Kai’s international shows include Don’t Tell Mama in New York City, The Blue Note in Milan, and performances in countries as varied as Bangladesh, the Netherlands and Russia. As well as for Kai’s Kats, Simon Whiteside has arranged tunes for vocalists as diverse as Caro Emerald & Billy Ocean to Alfie Boe & Russell Watson. Simon works in Film & TV: you can hear his music on screen in shows like Downton Abbey, Mr. Selfridge, Little Dorrit and Persuasion.

DJ Reverend Boogie, aka Andrew Hall, is a retro DJ specialising in music of the 1930s to 50s and runs the fantastic Canterbury Jive dance class series.
