RARE Productions is the UK’s largest specialist youth musical theatre company. Based in Caxton, near Cambridge, and established for 18 years, RARE currently operates 29 groups across the Midlands and the South and presents its shows in major theatres such as the Watford Palace, the Alban Arena in St Albans, the Grove Theatre in Dunstable and the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury. Over 5000 young people will take part in over 50 RARE shows this year.

RARE is not a theatre school. Its aim is to give young people between the ages of 8 and 21 the opportunity to actually perform in a major musical at a major theatre, supported by professional standard sets, costumes, lighting and sound. Amongst the shows on RARE’s roster are long established favourites such as Annie, Oliver and Bugsy Malone, together with new shows such as Hairspray and Matilda – all popular shows with our cast members.

Many RARE production staff members have performed professionally and nearly all are graduates of major performing arts colleges.

All staff have enhanced DBS checks and are licenced chaperones.
